What JuicyType sends

JuicyType sends us information about how it runs, so we can fix what breaks and make slow things fast. There is no switch to turn this off. We would rather tell you plainly what it is.

What we send

About your machine and your copy

Your macOS or Windows version, your computer’s processor, your Illustrator version, your JuicyType version, and an anonymous id for this installation. Your computer’s name and the name you log in with also travel with a crash report. Once your copy is activated, the id of your license goes with all of it — see Your license and your email below.

When JuicyType renders your text

How long the render took, how many glyphs and how many anchor points it produced, which effects were on the object, the settings those effects were using, whether the render was in Speedview, and an anonymous id for the document so we can tell one job’s frames apart.

Which controls you use

When you change a setting — a stroke’s gap, a 3D angle — we record which control it was and what you set it to.

How long you work in JuicyType

The time the panel is open with a JuicyType object selected, while Illustrator is in front. Not the time Illustrator is running, and not the time you spend in other applications.

When something goes wrong

The error, where in JuicyType it happened, and the last few things that happened before it.

What we never send

Your artwork. Your text. Your fonts. Your file names or where your files live on disk. Your Illustrator documents never leave your machine, and nothing here can be used to reconstruct them.

We do not sell any of this, we do not share it with anyone, and we do not use it to advertise to you. We keep it for as long as it is useful for fixing and improving JuicyType.

Your license and your email

If you bought JuicyType, started a trial, or joined the beta, we hold your email address and your license. We use it to send you your key, to tell you about new versions, and to answer you when you write to us.

Once a copy is activated, everything above is sent with the id of the license it is activated with, so we can see how a particular license is being used. Your license is tied to your email address, so this is not anonymous to us.

If you are a beta tester

Beta testers get a license that never expires, and in return we watch what you do with JuicyType more closely than we watch anyone else. Everything on this page — which effects you reach for, which controls you change, how long the renders take, how long you work — is joined to your name on our tester list, and we read it that way: as your sessions, not as anonymous rows. That is the whole point of the arrangement, and it is what the lifetime license is for.

It is still only what is described on this page. Your artwork, your text and your files stay on your machine. If you would rather not be watched this closely, write to us and we will take you off the tester list.

This website

Everything above is about the plugin. juicytype.com, the site you are reading, uses a few outside services, and this is what each one sees.

Cloudflare serves the site and counts page views. It sets no cookie and does not identify you.

Google Analytics and Google Ads count visits and tell us which pages, searches and adverts bring people here, and whether a visit ended in a trial or a purchase. They set cookies in your browser for that. Google’s own policy covers what Google does with it; we see it as counts and charts, never as a person.

Microsoft Clarity records how visitors move through the pages — where the mouse goes, how far a page is scrolled, what is clicked — and plays it back to us as a recording, so we can see where the site confuses people. Anything you type into a form is masked in the recording. Clarity sets a cookie to tell one visit from the next.

Partnero remembers, with a cookie, if you arrived through a creator’s link, so that creator is credited if you buy. Paddle runs the checkout; your card details go to Paddle and never to us. Resend delivers the emails we send you.

None of this reaches into the plugin, and nothing the plugin sends is joined to your browsing here.

Writing to us

Share feedback in the panel sends us what you type, and — only if you leave the box ticked — a picture of your Illustrator window as it looked when you opened it. You can see that picture before you send it, and you can untick the box.
